"A Silent Rockumentary" is the world's first documentary about a music band that is told as a silent film. It is exclusively the band's rousing and varied music that takes the viewer along, through "silent" images and title cards, on a journey into the depths of the music business. Mardi Gras.BB was founded in Mannheim 20 years ago as one of the first German brass and marching bands. Since then, it has made a name for itself across Europe as a demanding independent band on the renowned Frankfurt label Hazelwood, reinventing itself stylistically again and again. But in an age of illegal downloads and dwindling interest in protecting copyright, even a cult band like Mardi Gras.BB suddenly has to ask itself the question of its very existence.
